The Armenian Air Force will be re-equipped with Russian SU-30SM fighter jets in a few months, Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan revealed. He said the aircraft will be delivered to Armenia either yearend 2019 or in the first two months of 2020.

“The aircraft will arrive either in December or January-February,” he said, adding that this was the initially planned time frame.

Earlier unconfirmed reports suggested that Armenia will buy 4 units of the jets, but Tonoyan did not specify the number.

The Sukhoi Su-30 is a Russian-made twin-engine, two-seat super maneuverable fighter aircraft.  It is a multirole fighter for all-weather, air-to-air and air-to-surface deep interdiction missions.
