On March 27 the opening of Orbeli Analytical-Research Center of the Center of Public Relations and Information at the Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia SNCO took place in Yerevan, Mediamax reports.

The opening ceremony was attended by Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and Armenian President Armen Sarkissian.

Intellectual solutions

In his speech Nikol Pashinyan particularly said:

“I have told on many occasions that all the issues that Armenia has to face have first of all intellectual solutions. We can’t appear somewhere physically if we haven’t been there through imagination. We can’t do anything physically without first doing it in mind, which is certainly the case if our goal is taking conscious steps and controlling the situation.”

The necessity of uniting intellectual potential

The Armenian PM said that “we prioritize the cooperation with Armenia’s expertise potential”.

“We attach special importance to building bridges of cooperation with other similar public and private structures. We don’t consider this center to be the only source of intellectual production. The government should unite the intellectual potential around these issues. This is our first step towards that goal. The next commitment will be clarification of cooperation mechanisms with other analytical centers that exist and or will be established in the future,” Nikol Pashinyan said.

Not only Armenian but also international center

Director at the Center of Public Relations and Information at the Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia Hovhannes Movsisyan said that “the structure has long-term programs of development”.

“Orbeli Center will be not only an Armenian, but also an international structure. We should be represented on foreign platforms and make Armenia more presentable around the world,” Hovhannes Movsisyan noted.

Freedom and independence of thought

Armenian President Armen Sarkissian expressed readiness to share his years of expertise and connections in this sphere with Orbeli Center.

“Similar structures become successful and influential if they follow several principles. The first one is dedication to democracy. The second and third principles are freedom and independence of thought. Regardless of the founder, an analytical center can only be successful if it respects freedom and independence.”

The most important achievement of Orbeli Center would be not only being independent even having been established by the state, but also becoming a catalyst of similar independent centers and creating this culture in Armenia,” Armenian President said.
