Inflation rate in Armenia eased further to 0.9 percent in June of 2018 from 1.6 percent in the previous month. It was the lowest inflation rate since August of 2017, as prices rose at a softer pace for transport (7.2 percent from 8.4 percent in May); recreation & culture (1.2 percent from 3.4 percent) and clothing & footwear (4.1 percent from 7.5 percent). Also, inflation was steady for education (2.4 percent, the same as in May). On the other hand, prices advanced faster for housing & utilities (0.5 percent from 0.4 percent); furniture & household equipment (3.3 percent from 1.6 percent); restaurant & hotels (3.9 percent from 3.7 percent); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (4.6 percent from 3.7 percent) and health (5.3 percent from 4.8 percent). Meanwhile, prices continued to decline for food & non-alcoholic beverages (-2.2 percent from -0.5 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went down 1.6 percent, following a 0.1 decline in May. Inflation Rate in Armenia averaged 629.70 percent from 1993 until 2018, reaching an all time high of 22887.40 percent in June of 1994 and a record low of -5.52 percent in March of 1999.
